Re: 4th gen Lt1 93-97 how much will it be worth?

I don't think any 4th gen besides maybe the 93 Pace Car will be a collectors item unless it has like no miles on it. MAYBE if you bought one and stuck it in a storage building it might be worth more than you paid for it in 20 years but other than that, I don't see these cars as being a good "investment". If you were to take the money it took to buy the car and invest it or put it in a CD or something safe, I'd be almost willing to bet that CD would be worth more (even at the crappy rates today) than you could get for the car

Just my opinion but you won't see me personally investing in 4th gens. I have several of them but not as "investments"... they are toys

Not many people probebly thought that the late 60s muscle cars would be worth such an insane ammount today if they are all original.

Not that 4th gens will be, but hey it could happen.

I could definetly see the new LS7 zo6 becomming a collectors item.

30 or so years down the road a cherry 4th gen could be worth some loot, especially the ls1's with their more appealing styling. when time takes its toll and more and more 4th gens are in the junkyard or rust buckets i could see the collectors value going up on a nice stock f bod.

More appealing to you maybe. I think that especially if/when the new Camaro is out in the next few years, the value of a 4th gen will probably drop even further.

Re: 4th gen Lt1 93-97 how much will it be worth?

Of course the 4th gen f-body will have a value as a collector car someday. The question is how long and how much?

how long: probably another 20 - 25 years
why: because as time passes these cars get rusted and wrecked, making them more rare. any decent car that is 30 years old and in good condition is collectable and has a value.

how much: similar to how we value old cars today.
why: it will be based on options and rarity. the v6 cars will be bottom level and the specialty vehicles on top. The more rare the options and the more original it is the more valuable it will have.

As stated above, i'm pretty sure you would be better off investing at a low risk than purchasing a f-body. There is really not a market like that for these cars right now, or in the near future.

The good thing is that the market for early 4th gen cars is close to botoming out. You can find nice ones for very reasonable prices. I'm not sure how much lower they will drop, if any at all assuming consistant mileage on the cars. You can find nice low mile LT1 cars that have been well maintaned for under $5000. I have a hard time imagining that same low mile clean car falling in value to $2500. Any clean low mile car is worth more than $2500. So where will the market hit bottom? Who knows, but it can't drop much farther!

Here is the silver lining... If you buy a f-body at current rock botom price there is the potential that you could sell it after a few years and not lose too much money. Lets say you pay $5000 for a decent 1994 Z28. You drive it on weekends for fun 2 years and maintain it properly. You dont put too many miles on it. Now you decide to sell it... I bet you could still get your $5000 for it.

You just drove it 2 years for almost free, minus maintenance, insurance and gas.

Some people would consider that an "investment".... compared to the incredible loss involved in buying a brand new car.

i personally dont think its going to be that long before the value of these cars starts to turn around, especially with the 6 speeds. It took almost a year to find a good 6 speed in my area.

That could happen. It will be the rarer cars like the M6s, SSs and convertibles that gain value first. Combine all thise options together and the chances of getting more money increases. Go find a 1996 SS convertible with a M6 and it might be increasing in value within 5-10 years.

*might* being the key word and if it does, it will be a small increase. It won't be like you will get rich and retire off it.

this is kinda why I bought my car. It is very rare, being M6, convertible and dark green - gray. It's 1 out of 14 made. I paid $7500 for it 2 years ago. I really doubt it will ever be worth less that that, assuming I take care of it and dont put a ton of miles on it. It had ~50,000 when I got it and it is now just over 55.

Re: 4th gen Lt1 93-97 how much will it be worth?

Where can you find out how many of exactly what you have were made?

I know that 94 Z hardtops in my color w/ an A4 and the posi 3.23 rear have to be fairly rare, I can count on one hand how many other metallic teal Zs I've seen.

Re: 4th gen Lt1 93-97 how much will it be worth?

I was bored and did some quick math for you:

1994 Z28 A4 : 32,198 = 27%

3.23 axle : 96,776 = 81%

Teal : 14,670 = 12%

Hardtop: 69,917 = 58%

your car represents 2% of production or approximately 2396 cars.

Re: 4th gen Lt1 93-97 how much will it be worth?

I think they will be worth some change. Just remember their were very few 4th gens compared to the other gens. 2nd and 3rd i believe have the most produced. A good clean 4th gen is going to be hard to come by in 20 years. Remember our cars are the most powerfull camaros stock.(not counting copo yenko etc.) That will add to the value and collectability of the cars. Not saying that every 4th gen is going to be a 69 SS but i can see a Firehawk and a totally optioned out 4th gen SS with the anniversary 345hp package CME etc. Bringing a good $$. I do agree though these cars drop a ton of resale once they are modded and once they leave the dealer thats why i will never buy a new car of this type. The value just falls off the table.

Pro's are is that these cars have a fairly big following so no matter what their will be a demmand for them.

For a lt-1 car only the 93, 97 anniversary edition and maybe firehawk, bringing anything of collectors status. LT-4 cars as well.

so you are saying that a 96SS (first year back) will not be worth collector status? LOL

Re: 4th gen Lt1 93-97 how much will it be worth?

Will it ever be worth $$?? Nobody can say at this point. Collectability and value are a direct product of demand. They could be worth decent cash one year and worth squat the next.

Here's my take though:

---I still own my '96 Z28 and I'm the original owner. Mine has high mileage, so even though it is all original, it wont ever be "collectable".

---If I only had a nickel for every time I heard my dad say, "If I knew how much a simple Mustang would be worth today, I never would have sold mine!". He was referring to the 64-1/2, 289HO mustang coupe that he bought right after high school and later traded in.

---Ever since my own teen years, I have enjoyed restoring and driving "classic" cars. Well, in another 10 years, my Z will be a 20 year old classic. That'll be just about the time my son gets his drivers license. Yeah, we'll pull of the tops and cruise in style to celebrate...
