4:10 or 3:73?
Hey guys, I am looking at getting a set of gears. I have two questons. First is what ratio should I get? its a 93 m6 so I read something about how it has the longest OD gear. I do mostly city driving and about 6, 5 hour road trips every year. My second question is what brand should I go with? Thanks in advance for the help

Re: 4:10 or 3:73?
I would recommend the 4:10 with a six speed. I installed the 3:73 in my 97 SS and was a little disappointed. I never use 6th around town, only on the interstates. My 2015 Z28 has a 3:91 rear and again I seldom use 6th around town. With the higher gear you will use 5th more often and sooner. If gas mileage is a concern then go with the lower gear.

Hold on!
The 93 T56 1st gear ratios (there are 2 different T56's used in 93) are much different than 94-02. They are numerically higher, and 4.10's may be way too much. 93's have 2.73 or 3.23 gears to compensate for the different T56 ratios.
First you need to find out which trans and rear axle your 93 has - check the service parts tag for RPO M28 or M29:
4_3
There is actually an error in that table.... all 3.23 gears are RPO GU5.

Look for the "service parts" label in the glove box, or end of drivers door. It has the RPO codes for the parts installed at the factory. The trans code and the rear axle codes are on the label.
If you can't find the label, search for "compnine VIN" website. Enter your VIN and you will get a list of the RPO codes, vehicle build date, etc. There is a fee.
