3rd Gen Electrical question
Ok my car is at a garage getting work done, one thing is setting the radiator fan back up so it comes on at a certain tempature.
Right now the fan is controlled on the AC controls(there is no AC) You put the AC on max and the radiator fan goes on, thats it.
The mechanic is having a hard time figuring out whats up here. I know this was done buy the previous owner so I'm wondering if this is a somewhat common thing with a common system as to how its done, anyone got any guesses?

single fan was controled by the A/C controls and a switch in tha passenger cylinder head, dual fans had one same as the single, and one controlled by the ECM

Re: 3rd Gen Electrical question
Yep, Dave89IROC is right. The problem is either the coolant fan switch or the wiring to it. The fan switch is located in the passenger side cylinder head, in between the #6 and #8 spark plugs. It's not uncommon at all for those switches to go bad over time or have a problem in the wiring. I've seen it happen a lot (not to mention I've replaced mine 3 times ).
Although, now that I think about it, how hot has the car been ran? Just curious because the stock fan switch on the single fan cars is rated at 238*. I have still yet to figure out why GM made the fan come on so late.

Re: 3rd Gen Electrical question
I didnt get a chance to feel smart cuz already replaced the switch and got it working when I called.
