2000 Camaro differential fit in 2001

My 2001 z28 needs a differential someone is selling it from a 2000 Camaro is it the same?

Physically it will fit. Only differences should be three or four channel, a four has an abs sensor at each wheel, a three has a single abs sensor on top of the diff housing. If you have traction control, (asr) make sure the donor does as well.

Gonna buy the differential for 200$ what do I need to look at to know it's still good . Don't wanna buy a broken differential

Spin it slowly by the yolk, while creating light resistance on the axle and feel for smoothness. Of Course this isn't even kind of fool proof, hopefully you can pull the cover for a visual inspect. Be sure the axle you are swapping has the sam gear ratio, or at least know what the gear ratio of the new rear is, and what you have in yours.

i got the differential and gonna put it on myself tommorow hopefully everythings good and my baby will be running like a beast again

By "2000 Camaro" do you mean a V6 model? If so, was the V6 equipped with the optional (in the V6) limited slip differential?

it was also a v8 ... i switched them and everything fit perfectly and car ran great

An "open" differential will fit the same as the limited slip, and it won't change the way the car runs. But it will lead to one-legged burnouts.

If they were both from V8 models, they will both be limted slip.
