Angry 1993 z28 starter removal??

My dad has a 1993 z28 with the automatic transmission and the starter went out.We have disconected it but we cant get it past the y pipe.Is there anyway to get the starter out without removing the y pipe? the bolts are rusted and wont come loose. any suggestions or ideas?

You can try twisting and turning it several different ways, I tried it on my 94-Z for over 30 mins. Its a real pain to do and when you put the starter back in you have to do it the same painful way.

I don't remember the starter on my 95 Z28 coming out and going in very hard. It took a little bit of patience to find the right position for it to come out but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
