Can anyone tell me what this part is named Or the part #?

Sorry if this should go somewhere else, it's not really tech, but I didn't think it really fit in the appearance section

It's the bolt/hook thing in the rear hatch/trunk area of a 98-02 Trans Am. I believe they are supposed to be for securing a child car seat or something.

Mine stripped like a beeyotch and I cannot find it on GM parts direct or Rock Auto. Thank you very much in advance for any assistance!

Are you sure that is a factory part? I don't see it listed in the parts book.

Yes, there is one on each side of the flat rear hatch area, right behind the back seats. My car is a 2001 WS6.

I have the 2000 shop manual. I'll take a look and see if it is covered there. I have never seen those in a 4th Gen F-Body.

Looking at my owners manual, in Section 1 (seats & restraint system) it refers to them as "strap anchors"

Is it the bolt that is stripped, or the threads in the sheet metal the bolt goes into?

Checking the 2000 manual, these appear to be dealer installed. The manual has an "Initial Installation" procedure. The deck has a threaded reinforcement plate under the sheet metal, from the factory. Bolt gets tightened to 31 lb-ft. The actual anchor bracket appears to have been part of a "Child Seat Restraint System Belt Kit".

Nope the bolt head is stripped to hell. Plus, I'm an idiot and I managed to break off the tip of a drill bit in it trying to drill it out. It's a star head, rather than a Phillips or flat screw driver head, and it's not a hex head, it's round.

Apparently it's referred to as a strap anchor or cargo hook. No idea what the part number is, but there are several on eBay now that I have the name(s).

Here is what I would try: Get a small cutting wheel bit for that drill and cut a big slot in the head of the bolt. Then use a big a** screwdriver in the slot. If that doesn't work, use a cold chisel to knock off the bolt head (or a grinding stone bit to grind it off) and remove the rest of the bolt with a pair of locking pliers. Good luck.
