Hello , I'm a ameture level hobby mechanic I have a 84 z28 with a 305 v8 . Recently purchased for 500.00 it's definitely a project car . All of the major parts are there power train , motor , quad carbs , tranny .
What's the first thing I should do ? The guy I bought it off of said it ran when he parked it in the garage now it's my job to get it out and turn it in to my dream car .

Sounds like you tried to start it.

Does the starter crank the engine?

Does it attempt to start at all?

Did you check for spark at the plugs and at the coil wire?

Have you filled the tank with fresh gasoline, and replaced the fuel filter? Is the fuel getting to the carb?

You indicate it has "quad carbs".... definitely not a stock engine, because GM has not built an engine with dual quad carbs for many years. The 1984 305 (5.0L) was either the LG4 or the L69, both with a single 4BBL carb.

I've have added fresh gas tried to siphon out the gas old but got no where , the starter cranks and turns all the belts . I'll purchase a new fuel filter I'm sure it's probably all gunked up. I'm not sure what what carb it has but once u figure out how to post pictures I'll let you see what I'm working with .
