Security System

I have a 2002 camaro and my ignition has been screwed up for a while now, but now the car wont even start. The security light keeps flashing, so am assuming it has to do with the vats security system. I tried bypassing it with the resistors, i got the ohms from the key and matched it up with the ohms from the resistor and plugged it into the orange wire under steering column but no luck. So now my car is sitting on the side of the road and I have no idea how to get it started. Well once or twice it started but stalled after a few seconds. I was thinking that my key has a chip in it and maybe it wasn't registering with the brain module when i go to start it, but I am pretty frustrated with this whole thing. I have heard that this security system really sucks that there is a lot of problems with it, I can see why they would say that!!!!! I don't have like a gazilion dollars to take it to the dealership and get it fixed. So any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Re: Security System

Shoebox has a bypass diagram for the earlier models. Not sure if it matches yours, but it does indicate that there are two wires that need to be connected to either end of the resistor.

I'll check the 2002 wiring diagram to see if the wire colors are the same.
