Power for universal coil

I am switching my 95 Z28 to a carb and hei distributor. I wanted to know if anyone know a good place to splice into to get power when the keep is on? Thanks for any help.

Re: Power for universal coil

You probably want a "+12 Hot in run, test or start" line to feed the distributor. Since you will be pulling the old harness and PCM out the most reliable spot would be to get the +12 volts from the under hood fuse block. Fuses 9 & 10 7.5 amp each feed the injectors which you will no longer use. So you could get into the under hood panel and use one of then to feed the HEI. Or just pull a pink wire out of the injector harnesses left or right as it comes from the IP box fuses 9 or 10. Then when you remove the injector harness run the pink wire to the HEI.

Sorry, I meant when the key is on, not keep on.

Correct... Hot in run is with key on only, start is when car is cranking and test is when key is turned off to on to test indicators, line is not active with key in Accy mode. That is when you would want the distributor/ignition activated. I agree "Always Hot' is directly connected to the battery, via a fuse and you don't want that.
