Nope. The pin is nearly level with the heads of the bolts also. So surely it's short enough.

By "mushroom" I meant did you expand the pin diameter?

Are you using the same cam sprocket you were using previously with this Opti? You need the sprocket with the large hole, or the pilot shaft on the Opti will not go into it.

The pin and sprocket are right. It could be the hole in the cam that's the problem.

So I just checked the depth of the hole in the cam it's the right one

Got it on finally. I took the old one and tried knocking it on with a mallot and it worked. So then I put the new one on and a few light taps later it seated. Thank you for your help injuneer

It's not the depth of the hole in the cam, so much as the diameter of the hole.

And the nose of the cam has the relief (step) that allows the cam retainer to sit flush against the block?
