When you first turn the key to the run position, before starting, you should hear a fuel injection prime. If you dont hear it....try reading out the relay for voltage

when i turn the key to the run position, the fuel pump makes a sound, but it seems different sounding than before. I went ahead a put a fuel pressure gauge on the schrader valve, and in the "on" position, I get no reading. Its almost as thought the line is clogged.

Helpful hint....

They built F-Bodys from 1967-2002. There were numerous types and configurations of fuel pump setups. You need to add a "signature" with the basics info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods. Without that into, people have to guess what car you are asking about, and you reduce your chances of getting accurate and helpful information.

sorry about that. Its a 96 SS LT1 slightly moded, but nothing that should effect the fuel pump.

Can you hear the pump run for a couple seconds when you turn the key to "on", as the first person to respond asked you, then shut down? If not, or if it sounds "different", use the fuel pump prine connector to power the pump. That will bypass the pump relay, and the PCM "permit" signal.

When you put the fuel gauge on it make sure the connector for the fuel pressure gauge has a pin in it that depresses the core of the Schrader valve. If it doesn't, you won't get any reading. In that case, you would have to pull the core out of the Schrader valve and hook the fuel pressure gauge up before you start it.

When my pump started to go on my car, I first noticed this weird whining noise coming from the rear of my car, when the car was running. I then noticed a significant decrease in power when driving. When ever I drove slow, it was fine, but when I went to go give it some gas... it's like, it was being held back.
