It's a Walbro pump, so look that up.

I know the Racetronix pumps are of Walbro engineering. I'm not sure about the Granatellis though. There have been some big threads with complaints about the Granatelli pumps though. I would stick with either the Walbro or the Racetronix 255lph pumps. They all cost around the same anyhow.

Trust me, the pump says Walbro on the side and it's the same thing. People have had problems with aftermarket fuel pumps from everyone.

Gotcha, like I said, I wasn't sure who manufactured it or if it was an in-house part. The main gripe I have heard of the Granatelli is there are fitment issues when installing. The Racetronix pump is pretty much a drop-in part.

Yeh, I haven't figured out how Racetronix modifies their pumps to just drop in, but I'm guessing that Granatelli doesn't and it's the same thing that you'd get from Summit.

I used it in my Z28 when I had it. I had a 150 wet shot hooked up but was never able to use it due to tuning problems and a bad exhaust leak. The pump was fine for normal use though, I had no problems at all, and the install was pretty easy cutting a hole under the hatch.

I run two. They are a Walbro pump. So far, they have been working fine for 3 years. Summit price was $125 for kit. I completely modified the fuel system mechanicals and electrical. It looked like a good price, and, I got the electrical connector. (97SS 383 - D1)

well i ordered the pump... sure enough, it says granatelli on the box but WALBRO on the pump. it comes with all the stuff for hook-up, plus electrical pigtails (i gotta say i'm not too crazy about just crimping some new ends on the electrical of the wiring harness) as the directions call for. I might solder them or something instead

Am i looking at a bunch of modifying to make this part work?? the directions make it seem basically as simple as swapping in a new fuel pump for a bad one (except for the electrical pigtail intsall)

I soldered my connections and used a shrink wrap. After running for some time, I extracted the modified fuel unit (2 pumps). The shrink wrap was intact and OK. The other wire I used (painless brand) had the insulation all shrunk up. Some of the bare wire was exposed, but @ least I did a fair job of wiring so the conductors would not short. I could not find a wire with an insulation jacket the is resistant to gas. Even Summit answered this question wrong about insulation survivability in gas. I've looked all over, and, I know is there is some out there. I can't find it. Anyway, there is no chance of explosion due to no oxygen in the tank.

Also, if you ever want to seal something, "sealall" is the adhesive of choice for me. JBweld will not survive emersed in gas. Got all crusty and fell apart.

If you need a connector inside the tank, purchase some of those screw-type connectors from Summit. They work great, and, do not degrade emersed in gas. I changed conductors to 16ga wire, but, I have completely changed everything in there.

Hope this helps. (97SS 383 - D1)

The Racetronix setup is a nice COMPLETE kit. I didn't have to do any crimping or anything. I just plugged in the stuff and was ready to go.

The one I got from texas speed did not require any modification but did not come with any glue to seal the pump case lid back on or any extra tubing.

Maybe your kit was missing it, mine came with all that stuff.

Re: Granatelli 255lph fuel pumps, good bad or ugly?

I bought one for my 97z. And for some reason...the pump won't pump the fuel while its in the housing. But if I just drop the pump down in the tank it works just fine....anyone have any ideas/suggestions????
