Fuel Injector Swap

i swapped out my 42# (bosch design III custom) for 36# FAST injectors (same design). i noticed when i pulled out all of the 42# injectors that i was missing something on 4 of them. these injectors had 1 o-ring at the top, 2 o-rings slightly separated at the bottom, and a black plastic/hard rubber cap at the bottom that i'm guessing was to hold the o-rings on. this cap obviously was open in the middle to allow fuel to pass through, but almost snapped onto the end of the injector. when i pulled out injectors 4, 5, 6, and 7, these small caps were missing, however, they were still on injectors 1, 2, 3, and 8. my guess would be that they were somehow wedged into the intake manifold when i pulled the injectors out and are now sitting somewhere in the top half of my engine. im also going to venture a guess that i now need to pull my intake manifold off to remove them...can someone help clarify this issue for me? i wont be running the car until i can figure out what needs to be done...

Re: Fuel Injector Swap

did you try playin around in there with a screwdriver to see if you could fetch them

also, are they metal? if they are you could use a magnet...

Re: Fuel Injector Swap

yeah i tried using a little hooked tool, much like a dental pick, with no success, and they are not metal, they are either plastic or hard rubber...my guess is that i need to remove the intake manifold at the least, and at the most will need to remove the headers and heads in a worst case scenario...(the only positive thing that would come from doing this is an excuse to get bigger head porting done lol)

Re: Fuel Injector Swap

yeah but the fact that they fell off into the intake means that they could've fallen into the valve/cylinder area, and i don't want to risk losing a valve seal or anything like that due to a plastic or hard rubber piece...that would be a lot more work than removing the intake manifold...if i don't have to remove the heads/headers, then by all means i wouldn't even think about it
