Latest..
When the heads arrive (bone stock LS6 heads by the way), I'll run my metric thread chasers through all the bolt holes to make sure they're clean. The builder will strip off the stock springs and install my trunion upgrade and Brian Tooley valve springs. Then he'll degree in my ISKY Triple 12 cam. I'm taking him my brand new Fbody Oil pan so he can weld a -10 AN oil return bung on the pan. Rummaging around in my pile-o-parts (aka my shop), I found 2 long pieces of -10 stainless braided line for the returns and my valve cover vacuum ports. Win!
Latest..
- Block back from the machinist, all clean, machined and a light boring/honing w/torque plates.
- New Clevite bearings everywhere
- Rotating assembly balanced
- Due to a still unexplained brain fart, the builder didn't think I was using my stock 5.3 heads, but rather, LS6 heads so the Compression ratio spec for the Wiseco pistons was off. Had to buy some LS6 heads. They'll be here tomorrow.

Stinking weather delayed FedEx from delivering my heads today. Now they say tomorrow. I have to sign for them when they arrive so I can't go anywhere till they arrive.
On the positive side, I dropped off my cam (Isky Triple 12), intake(LS1), fuel rails, Fbody oil pan, gaskets, etc to the guy degreeing in my cam. While there, I got to see my block, crank, rods, pistons and bearings. He said he expects to make good progress over the weekend on assembly

Yeah, Anthonys shop is immaculate. I've never seen a shop where everything is so clean. I've stopped in about 5 times unannounced and without fail, you could eat off the engines and fenders without ingesting one bit of dirt or grease. He must have a fixation on cleanliness. He keeps everything immaculate. As he puts it himself, "I'm real **** about keeping cars clean. I can't stand to work on anything filthy". As soon as he pulls in a car to do engine work, he has these big rolls of clear plastic that has an mild adhesive on one side so he pulls off sheets and coats the fenders, ect so they don't get scratches/scuffs.

Ugh.. just realized that at my power levels (900hp?) and with the transbrake in use, the stock flexplate is not a smart thing to rely upon. I just finished reading where several guys had the stocker crack at the bolt holes.
Just ordered a Hughes SFI approved Flexplate and the attendant ARP flexplate bolts. $179....

Heads arrived. They are actually 799's instead of 243's. No worries though. Same heads, different valves. They look to be in good shape. They seller packed them well and shipped them promptly.

Chris.. OMG.. I know... Holy S***....
Here's what I've put into this effort. Mind you, ALL I wanted at first was a JY 5.3 with Head studs, new headgaskets, a cam/springs, fresh lifters and new oil pump.
So far, in hardparts and machine work(no labor yet on disassembly/blueprinting/re-assembly) I've spent $7,110.00
That figure doesn't include;
Of course, the devil being in the details, I'll still have to buy unknown stuff (Serpentine belt, Throttle cables, sensors, bolts, nuts, etc)
Geez...At least it should be a long lasting bad *** street car at the end.

I think I have right around 7k in my 408 including paying my buddy to install it for me. Luckily I got the block for free and picked up my 317s for $125. At least when I transfer everything to the WS6 I won't need to source brackets or anything

When my machinist was degreeing the cam, it was off 5 degrees. He does dozens of engines each year and says Cam Motions is the most consistently correct while Comp Cams are off the most and the most frequently. As much as 8 and 9 degrees off.
As of a few minutes ago, Anthony says I can pick it up Friday!

Just heard from Anthony (my engine builder) that she's ready to pick up! I'll have to wait till Friday but at least it's ready to go.
