Re: Signs Of Supercharger Belt Slippage ??

It's cool to see a couple different threads pop up between here and the other message boards from Vortech YSi LT1 users. Also cool that the OP returned to tell a success story and describe what his solution was.

I'm surprised you're getting away without a modified bracket being added to your stock bracket. I was going to ask you the same question as Purple Poncho. The few others running the YSi seem to run additional brackets. I don't know if it is worth the trouble to go this YSi route. Shosovr, are you not having flex or belt issues w/o an added brace?

Re: Signs Of Supercharger Belt Slippage ??

"ponyackn" to date, I have not had any issues with my YSI. No flexing that I am aware of, and no issues with the belt. I did not think that it was any trouble at all ... other than it being a tighter fit. The mounting brackets seemed sturdy enough and it uses some pretty hefty bolts. The only issue that I had was when I upgraded to a 10-rib set-up, and trying to locate a belt that fits.

"95maroboi" my Camaro was making about 18 lbs @ 5700. I was told that YSI's will continue to make boost as you continue to increase the RPM's, but 5700 rpm was plenty for me.

18 pounds, yeah belt slip must not be an issue!! I'm so tempted to go this route, but would likely attempt to fab a bracket. Don't see myself being as lucky

Your 10 rib clears the fan motor of the radiator?

Edit: I see your pulley sizes were posted. Man, even more amazing you don't experience slip.

The 10-rib required a longer bolt for the S/C pulley, so now the head of that bolt sits in between one of the louvers (or shroud) on the back of the radiator fan. I remember thinking that a 12-rib would require some modification (trimming) to the shroud.
