dyno dissapointment

I got my car on the dyno today and was very dissapointed. The car was putting down... sae 488rwhp.The 42lb injectores are going static so i no thats a problem but isnt the reason the numbers are so low. What do you guys think?this is the build

355 lt1
advanced induction 200cc heads
220/230 112 cam
vortech si blower 12 psi(1150 cfms)
42lb green top injectores
advance induction ported manifold
asm 58mm monoblade throttle body
racetronix hotwire fuel pump
snow peformance stage 2 methonal

With all these mods i was expecting no less then 550rwhp

Re: dyno dissapointment

what also isnt making sense to me is with my old motor with semi ported heads, non ported manifold, and running out of fuel i was at 460 rwhp at 10 psi.How is it possible for the heads to be upgraded, the boost higher, a fully ported intake manifold and methonal injection and a fuel pump be only good for 28rwhp?i need help with this

Re: dyno dissapointment

well for one thing, if you don't tune for the methanol/water correctly, you could loose power - yeah, you won't detonate that way, but you can lose power if you don't bring in your timing, then lean out your fuel & back out your meth/water a bit.

Re: dyno dissapointment

I bought Lucas 42lb injectors years ago. It appeared they were going static and caused a lot of problem for me. I went ahead and got some Bosch on Ebay for $360 and it fixed my problem. I was having problems in higher rpm's and ended up having a bad alternator and my battery was questionable. After replacing them all, the car now has zero problems. I also replaced the positive battery cable and cleaned all the connections and grounds. Assuming you are using the same dyno under the same conditions, I would expect more but its hard to say how good your old heads were compared to the new ones. How good your tune is will make a lot of difference. I have seen a lot of builders put big upgrades in and fight for years to make the power expected. Something simple like the exhaust not being big enough, will limit how high you can go.

Re: dyno dissapointment

How did the graph look, smooth/choppy, plateau/sudden drop?

Was it retuned?

Re: dyno dissapointment

The graph was completly smooth.then power falls of after 6k rpms even though my cam if on a 112 lsa?Im runnning borla exhuast with a cut out and no cats so i dont think exhuast will be the problem here. Its got a brand new battery and a brand new built alternator. Mark roman is my tuner out of sacromento.hes suppose to be one of the best.

heres the specs on my old moter
355 lt1
semi ported lt1 heads aroun 240 cfms
stock manifold
52mm
a.i blower cam 220/230 .555 112
borla catback with cats
vortech si 10 psi
42lb injectores

thats was at 460rwhp with fuel pressure dropping down to 40 psi

My new motor

355 lt1
advanced induction 200cc heads
220/230 112 cam
vortech si blower 12 psi(1150 cfms)
42lb green top injectores
advance induction ported manifold
asm 58mm monoblade throttle body
racetronix hotwire fuel pump

thats was also at 460 rwhp at 12 psi and 60psi of fuel befor the methonal and the injectores going static

then the methonal was added to make it run richer so they injecotres could handle more and it got to 488

I just dont get how the heads can flow 40 more cfms
a fully a.i ported manifold to match
a bigger air filter to pick up 2psi from the blower
methonal stage 2
and 60 psi of fuel compared to 40psi

be only good for 28 rwhp?I should have got that from just the boost going from 10 to 12 without all the other mods.

Also for some reason there is 2 more degrees of timing being pulled out even though the tuner has it at 25 its pulling out and extra 2 to make 27 at high rpms

Re: dyno dissapointment

thats what i was thinking. The tuner said it wont make that big of a difference when it comes to the horsepower.Ill be getting 60 lb injectores to see if thats what it is but if it isnt im gona be selling the car.i didnt put over 8 grand into this thing to only b makin 480 to the wheels

Re: dyno dissapointment

Are you running datalogs? If so, how close our you to maxing out the injectors? Have you let the tuner see the dyno sheet to see if there is somewhere to adjust to make more power? I always hear stories where after continued tuner you can unlock lots more HP. I went ahead and bought new injectors and went with a better brand in Bosch. It would be nice to see if the injectors are the problem. If you were going for 60lb eventually and keeping the car, I would replace now and sell the old ones, if I were you.

Re: dyno dissapointment

Do you have a boost gauge hooked up to verify how much boost the intake manifold is seeing? Based on power, looks more like you are making 6-8psi.

Also, adding the meth won't do squat unless you add more timing with it.
