Re: my possible job future with current company [serious]
Also wanted to add now that I'm not posting from my phone, why not put here what you do and what kind of experience you have. I know a lot of people on this site have gotten jobs from other members. You never know who's hiring.
Also something to look at is relocation. I know you're kind of upside down on your townhouse from previous posts (or maybe I have you confused with another member) but finding a new job out of town is a great way to fix that. I have a co-worker who's wife took a new job and her company purchased their old house from them so she could move.

Always keep an open eye for new opportunities. That said, I would perhaps recommend you and the other manager, and your boss, maybe put in a few extra hours outside of your regular duties to see if you can come up with a plan to increase revenue. All companies are different, but sometimes presenting a reasonable plan to the higher ups can demonstrate commitment and and value beyond the raw numbers.

From a sales perspective, if the numbers aren't where they should, you are doing something wrong.
It never has anything to do with the location, the economy etc. As you should be adapting to those changes and marketing the company differently to get the business.
This is a time where if you turn things around, it may work out in your favor for another promotion.
You need to figure out why the numbers are down, and come up with a plan to get them up. That will at least show you are doing something.

Numbers are down because we make alot of money in the cold frozen winter.
Last Jan/Feb Minnesota had a harsh winter = alot of money
This year we have not had a winter (seriously, it has been 30-40º all winter with no snow). = less money
That's the reason. I can control the winter. To go from one extreme to the next in one year is going to get reflected in revenue)

And I understand from your earlier post that many company policies cannot be changed...
So, if you are selling "snowplows" (I have no idea what you actually sell) and a warm winter is bad for revenue, how about promoting some sort of service for plow inspections that is "free" or really inexpensive as a way to at least generate increased floor traffic, put more customers and potential customers in front of your sales/service teams, and maybe be able to sell some blade guards, hydraulic upgrades, headlight cages, or whatever...
You cannot change the weather but the goal is to at least bring people in the door for some sort of value added up sell opportunity.

You're right, you can't control winter, but that is just one variable, you can control many others. Like Ted said, run some sort of special. Most of the HVAC places around here aren't making any money either because people are running their furnaces less, but guess what, they are sending out inspection cards left and right. That gets their tech onsite, they get a quick $40, and then find stuff to charge people for.
Take this as test, if you can't get past this, any job after this will only have a matter of time before you are let go.
