My big toe on one foot has been going partially numb...

WTF... been doin this for a few weeks now at least. Sometimes I notice it, sometimes I don't. I usually notice it when I'm barefoot and rub my toe on something. Feels like that tingly numb feeling when your arm falls asleep, except I can still move it fine... just the numb feeling.

WTF could be causing this? I can't really go to the doctor now seeing as how my health insurance is gone now that I got laid off.

Lepercy. Not sure if that's how you spell it, but that's what it does kills the nerves.

Got to start thinking critically man.

Is it the whole big toe, or just one side? There are a few different large(er) nerves that run to the big toe. whole toe
Where's lamb when I need his nursing expertise.

Nope, no tight shoes... hell I've been wearing mostly sandles the last 2 weeks. It's the same color as my other toes all the time.

Prolly just reduced circulation. Get off your *** and start working out. You're too young for it to be diabetes related, you're probably just out of shape. Now if you are working out a lot, then go see a doctor.

Your back hurt? Pinch a nerve somewhere?

What kind of shoes do you wear? If they're too tight that will cut off circulation and cause it to go numb even when you dont have them on.

You can move your toe even if its numb because the muscles that control it are farther up in the foot and only the tendons come down there and attach to the bone itself. Numbness is either a nerve or circulation problem. If your toes are cold and not all that flush, then its probably a circulation problem, if the toes are red and somewhat warm (they can still be slightly cool) then its a nerve thing.

Well, looks like more of a nerve issue, then. The toes is kinda reddish.

But like I said, I don't wear any tight shoes, nothing that even comes close.

For the last week and a half, since I got laid off, the only thing I've even wore are sandals. I wear some tennis shoes when I go to the gym, but that's only for an hour, and they're not too tight.

If you sit down alot that can mess with both the nerves and the circulation in your feet. I bet if you got more active in the cardio you'd be fine, get moving more and it should clear up.

Only 1 form of lepracy causes nerve damage the other 2 aren't nearly as bad but this is the one you read about in the Bible and gets feared the most.

It could be intermittent vascular claudication as lamb is suggesting but it could be one of about 500 different things. Given age, weight, some questions answered I could narrow it down quickly. I would suggest it may be peripheral nerve entrapment or it could be the sciatic entrapment, although those symptoms usually don't just show up in the big toe. And the L5 disc is the one that would possibly impact the S1 nerve root (which supplies the big toe). Go to an MD/DO or chiropractor and get checked out, it could be something serious but likely isn't. If it is something serious it helps to find it early.

Well, I am much closer to being the board Doc since I graduate in December and have been an intern since last fall. I will be a chiropractor but that is much closer to being an MD than a nurse, no offense Lamb.
