Trying to put a hard-working accountant out of business or what?

I don't think you can easily say since you have various deductions, etc, etc (I assume).

And if you do it on IRS's website, it won't cost you anything, I heard.

There is a refund estimator on the H&R Block website. I think the link is right on the first page. I tried using it yesterday but couldn't get it to work.

Have any links to the tax table? I found the 1040EZ form (on a different website) but didn't find the tax table anywhere on www.irs.gov .

Re: just got my W-2 (how much money will i get back)

Thanks for the link. I did find the tax table on another site finally, and used it to fill out a 1040EZ. It looks like I might owe money this year. I don't get it. Maybe I did it wrong or something. I remember the good ol' days when I'd get back around a grand. I made $21,613.44 this year, and payed exactly $2027 in ferdal taxes. Does that sound right?

I'm not sure. It's the federal tax payed in box 2 of my W2. I don't know anything about the standard deduction, or the deduction for myself.

If you do a 1040EZ, which only lets you have the standard 4850 and 3100 deductions, it looks like you will get back about $333. Not too bad. Did you claim 1 instead of 0 this year on your W4, or did you make more money this year than most? That may be why you are getting back less this year than before.

I usually claim 0 on my W4. I'd rather pay a little more each check, but get a bigger present at the end of the year. I've been making right around this much for the last 5 years or so. Oh well. I just wanted to get a hint at what I'll get back. I'll be filing jointly with my wife this year, and she made around $35,000. I know she paid a TON of taxes for some reason, so hopefully we'll get alot of money back.
