How long do it take you to reach peak shape physically?

I mean after letting yourself go by not working out for an extended period of time. I found it to be about 3 months for me. Cardio 4 days a week and various exercises the other days. (went from 175lbs to 145)

Can it be done faster? It's getting harder to find extended periods of time to work out without vacations or travel getting in the way.

I don't think you can ever define "peak" shape... there's always further that you can take it depending on how far you want to go.

It only took me about 3 months of eating right and working out on my elliptical machine to drop about 20 pounds and get to an ideal weight for my frame. But that's about all I care to do, for now...

I think probably I should say 90% physical peak. I found it took me about 3 months of intense exercise and diet to hit it. At 145 I was stronger, faster, and more trim than ever, but it took a while and a lot of discipline.

How about this, how long does it take you to plateau?

cardio wise, i would say 3-9 months, depending on the person, if your already in pretty good shape, dont smoke/drink and eat healthy you could be in pretty good cardio shape in 3-4 months.. strength wise you go up QUICK, then level off after 6 months or so, say where you might be adding 10-20lbs a month on bench or deadlift/squats for the first 6 months, after that it might drop to 5 lbs a month..

It's starting to look like about 3 months to reach close to peak shape, then slow gains after that. Damn, I have 85 days to go...

Its all about eating healthy, you "are what you eat." You eat fatty foods, drink a lot and its going to show even if you have a steady work out plan. Depending on the body type, metabolism, and such depends on what you need to eat. A good balance of carbs, and protein mixed with exercise will really help. As far as how long it will take...how hard do you want to work? Everyone gains/looses at a different rate. I've gone up just over 100 lbs on bench in 7 months of hitting the gym hard and I was never fat, ive always been skinny so adding muscle was hard for me. Like stated earlier, what are you trying to achieve...a completely shredded figure or just being in shape?
