My parents have a house on Holiday Isle. There are plenty of places to stay. I'm trying to think of some of the condos down the street from our place...look for anything on Holiday Isle though. The actual street name is Gulf Shore Dr.

Man if I was going to drop 1.5k on a honeymoon, it wouldn't be in Destin. Destin is OK but 1.5k for a week in that area is, IMO, kind of a waste of money. Almost anyplace that costs that much will be a multibedroom condo and the extra bedrooms will go to waste.

I'll be staying at the Palms of Destin with my wife and a couple friend of ours from the 19th of May until the 23rd for just a short cheap vacation. We're just going to drive down there - it's a 2 bedroom condo, 1500sq ft - brand new construction, and we got it at a discount promo rate of $151/night. That works out to $75/couple per night so it's pretty reasonable, especially if it's as nice as we've heard about.

I saw the Palms a few weeks ago. It looks nice and the price seems right, but it isn't on the beach. I think the only way for you to get to the beach from there is by car and you'll have to get on Hwy 98, which is usually packed.

They have a shuttle every 30 minutes or something like that IIRC.

Sweet, then that should be fun. I just hate getting on hwy. 98 if I have to drive.

You can sit on the beach all day and have some beverages without having to worry about driving back to the condo.

i was looking for something around hwy 2378. a little south of 98 in all those little cottages, but i'm sure it will be out of my price range.

on a side note i like the spot you pointed out threxx and it could be a cheaper alternative

Me and the Bride stayed there for $12.50/night

If your willing to drive about 15 minutes outside of Destin you can stay in Ft. Walton(Waldon) Beach, not sure which spelling is correct but me and the wife stayed in a beach house where you can rent the upstairs and downstairs or both if you have a lot of people. They were right across the road from the beach, maybe 100 yards to walk to touch water. It was a cluster of newly built houses, Charlestonian type, not very wide but tall. I think it is around $1500 a week.

http://vacation.southernresorts.com/...a?propId=RU66B, here is where we stayed last year, we loved it, it's actually not as expensive as I thought, I must be confusing the place we're getting this year. They have a nice pool and there are only about 10 houses in the little neighborhood, plus you have an inlet lake right next door.
