Is barium sulfate supposed to give you an ungodly amount of gas?



Just curious. I got my CT scan done this morning and ever since I've been ripping them almost nonstop. They also tricked me, told me I needed to just drink the two 16oz things before I got there. Then they made me drink another one and a half after I got there. That stuff is nasty and has an almost gel like consistency.

What did they scan your for again? I got a scan a while back where I think I had to drink something like that but it was for a scan of my upper digestive tract.

Don't remember any farting except for yesterday when I had spaghetti for breakfast, oh man that was bad news all morning.

They think I might have a blockage in my intestines. I've had a pain on my right side for a couple months and alot of difficulty with #2(no, not that #2, the other #2).

Man I feel like they pumped me full of air.

I have had alot, I was doing 4 CTs a year, and in '05 had like 6-7.

because of my cancer I am at a higher risk of cancer by the number of catscans I have had


As for the barium... it had given me some farts, alot of people have problems, I have an iron stomach, but it did give me some crazy watery white ****s....

Likely the gas was building up in your intestines and was pushed out by the heavy/think barium sulfate. Your body can't absorb barium so it just gets pushed out like a HUGE amount of fiber.
