I was at Academy yesturday looking for .380 ammo (I scored!), wandered by the pistol display case... just for a looksie :lol: and saw "HOT DEAL!" red tags on the Sigmas. I had considered a Sigma before, but was hesitant due to all the people posting on the boards how horrible the DAO trigger is on these. Didn't know anyone with one, so I couldn't try one.

But Academy had them for $299.99, plus there is a $50 rebate from S&W. For $250, figured I couldn't lose. Decent pistol from S&W, and thought I could probably find info on how to improve the trigger. Worst case, keep it as a garage or pickup truck gun.

So I picked one up in 9mm, a 100 rd box of WWB, and a 50 rd box of Monarch they had on sale for $9.99, just to try the stuff. Range I go to was only 5 minutes away, had to find out for myself. Loaded 3 WWB rounds, sent the target out to 7 yds, popped them off.

Easy shooter, good grip angle like 1911s, I liked the sights, and accurate. Two rounds were verticle to each other, just about touching, other was 1/2" to their right side. Took it out to 15 yds next, shot 10 rounds, group was about the size of a grapefruit. That's pretty good for me, I'm not a great shot.

As far as the trigger, I thought it was fine, about the same as an ok DA revolver. Better than the DAO on my P-3AT. And there is indeed lots of info on how to improve the trigger, make it smoother, lighter. I'm going to use it as is for now, might work on it later.

I can only guess that a lot of guys haven't shot revolvers much and judge a trigger by the lighter SA action of most semiautomatics, so they dog the DAO trigger on the Sigmas. Like I said, good for me cause I got a good pistol for cheap. And I prefer the longer DAO trigger + no manual safety. Again, revolverish. Of course, JMO

As far as the Monarch. Not worth the lower price for me. It had a FTF jam, and it wouldn't lock the slide back on the last round. Thinking maybe it's under powered, so it can't work the slide all the way back causing both problems.
