Re: XS Power Headers

It seems quite a few have these headers searching on the Internet, even a few Corvette and 5th gen Camaros. I was trying to see if any 4th gen owners LT1 or LS1 have them installed.

The traffic on this site is nowhere near what it was when you joined 12 years ago..... very limited.

I'm trying to hold it together, but as you can see, not a lot of help on some topics.

Re: XS Power Headers

I noticed that. You would think that with the new 5th & 6th gen Camaro that this site would be popping. I can't believe not one person responded.

Re: XS Power Headers

In actuality, I have never heard of those headers, and can't recall anyone using them. Might explain lack of response as well. Everyone seems to use Pacesetter long tubes.

Re: XS Power Headers

Pacesetters? Are they good? I just want a good set and thought about stainless but the Hooker shorties I have now have held up pretty good. Since 2003 and they show use but no real signs of deterioration.

Re: XS Power Headers

I remember a lot of fitment complaints with pacesetter. I went the KOOKS route and absolutely love them. I do run the canton 6 qt oil pan and had to relocate the oil sensor and the oil filter is tougher to change.

Did you wrap your headers?

Re: XS Power Headers

Do you find that it greatly increased under hood temperature? I'm really wanting stainless for longevity and durability. Im not concerned at all about appearance. I currently have Hooker shorty ceramics and I'm just worried about how much the temperature increase will be.

Re: XS Power Headers

Yes I would say the underhood temps are higher. Not high enough that I have had any issues. I have had these headers for 7 or so years and they are still perfect. The Jet hot coated headers I had before rusted within a year or so. I live in Oklahoma and it gets quite hot here and never had a problem with engine temps.

Re: XS Power Headers

For 7 years, that looks pretty good. Looks like you have decent clearance and fairly decent plug access. I'm sold on getting stainless I'm just concerned with too much heat. I am running a 160 thermo and have a ram air hood that has been modified to just let cool air in the engine bay and it can vent hot air out when not in motion.

Re: XS Power Headers

I guess you could wrap them but I didn't see the need and I'm scared to do so. I have heard of an instance where someone lost their car to fire. Apparently oil soaked into the wrap and caught fire.

Re: XS Power Headers

Yes, I've seen a lot of debate about whether to wrap headers or not. From what I've seen so far, it seems that most people are against it.
