Re: What Exhaust You got

Nothing special here.

Stock manifolds, cat delete, flowmaster 80 series, and magnaflow dual oval tips.

Cost me about $200 total. I'm hoping to add headers and a Y pipe in the near future.

Re: What Exhaust You got

I had an edelbrock CB and deleted the cat as well on my 94. Sounded killer, especially after headers.

My 95 has a flowmaster CB, with the cat. I think taking the cat off might make it a bit obnoxious, but I'll probably do it anyway.

Yep, thats it. On the 93-95 cars all you have to do it cut the cat and weld in a straight piece of pipe.

SLP midlength headers, 3" ORY. Magnaflow highflow cat, 3" intermediate pipe, QTP electric cutout and Magnaflow cat back.

Re: What Exhaust You got

Do you have any engine mods at this time?

Did you look at posts on the "Exhaust" forum? There's a "sticky" with lots of true duals setups.

Re: What Exhaust You got

Changing the muffler doesn't do as much in the way of power gains as changing out the complete catback for a system with a 3" mandrel-bent intermediate pipe.

But what i have been reading online, taking off a cat and getting an aftermarket muffler increases your horsepower by quite a bit, and gives your car the mean sound

If its that mean sound you're mainly lookin for then then you're headed in the right direction but dont expect any power gains just by taking the cat off and putting on a flowmaster. You also might wanna try and find some sound clips of different mufflers on stock camaros because just about every muffler has a different sound, you might as well pick the one you like best.

Kooks headers, Magnaflow high flow cats and pipe system and Magnafow Cat back system. The system knocked about 3 tenths off the quarter.

Was what you were "reading online" specific to your LT1 engine? Or was it some generic info on possibly an import site? Based on working on the LT1 for 17 years since I bought mine brand new in 1994, you are not going to gain much by changing the muffler. The bottleneck in the system is the intermediate pipe. My second purchase in 1994 was a Borla adjustable catback. That, plus a Callaway CAI netted me 3/10th's in the 1/4-mile. Many others have had similar experience.

John Lingenfelter was building 383 LT1's "back in the day"... his testing showed the stock cats were worth less than 5HP on his 400+ HP 383 LT1's.
