open header problem

I have a 1993 camaro z28 and i just put a set of pace headers on it, it dont want to run rite with the headers open. everyone is telling me its the o2 sensors making it run raggid because they have no back pressure.my engine light came on and it was the o2 sensor code. so i know it has something to do with the sensors. they were fine before so i know there not bad. is there a way to bypas them or is there such thing as a dumy o2 sensor that makes the motor think it is fuctioning rite? or is this not at all whats rong

Re: open header problem

The problem is that the o2 sensor is so close to the end of the collector that it is actually seeing fresh air in between exhaust pulses. If you want to run just open headers, put a 1ft extension off of the collector and that will fix your issue. Not that I condone running open headers, but thats the solution
