Looking for advise, adding Cat's to LT headers
1994 Z28 .. Currently running Pacesetter non-emission LT's through a Y-Pipe to a Corsa Cat Back 3 inch SS exhaust w/o Cat. Decided to add a pair of high flow cats to get rid of the stink and maybe quiet down the noise. Since space is at a premium I've been looking putting a pair of these in the Y-Pipe as close to the collectors as possible http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...niversal=54959 . They are good for up to 5.2 liters, since I'll have two figure they should do the job. My question is will they get hot enough that far back in the system to work OK ?. What have any of you used for this setup, installation hints and/or other product recommendations are welcomed.. Bob D.

I'm running Kooks long tubes with their y-pipe and cats along with a Corsa cat back. I can't comment on your cat choice but I can say it will still be LOUD even if you add the cats. I'm looking for an alternative muffler choice myself.

Re: Looking for advise, adding Cat's to LT headers
My comment was more aimed at the loud Corsa muffler than the addition of cats. I'm certain it would be quieter with cats than without, but Corsa isn't my #1 choice for use with headers. I'm sure there are guys out there that do like them, but living 2 blocks from the local suburban cop shop they attract just a little too much attention. I can't imagine how loud my car would be without any cats!

I have a similar situation to you. LTs with ORYP and Borla cat back. I am looking to cut back on smell and pass the sniffer. I just ordered a pair of the 59959's, not 5 minutes ago.

Larsv8, noticed you ordered the cats for a larger engine (up to 6.2L), I was looking at the 5.2 L ones since I was going to put in a pair. Yours look a little more compact 8 inches long Vs 9 3/4 in, maybe I go with what you ordered. Update with your results as I plan on doing mine next month. Plan on holding mine on with the Walker heavy duty clamps so I can use that point as a way to break apart the exhaust for future tranny, undercarriage work.

Re: Looking for advise, adding Cat's to LT headers
Hey bob,
I got my cats put on and successfully passed the sniffer in Texas. The smell cut down but I will still get a whiff every now and then.
The sound is still pretty loud, but not out of control, although I hear a slight drone sometimes.

Do you have emission headers with the EGR hooked up, mine are non-emission and I was wondering if I could get by the NO test w/o EGR by cooling down compression.
