Longtube Headers Install

so i just bought the PaceSetter QuikTrip Long Tube Headers for my 95 z28, I brought it down to a shop and the guy told me that the only way to get them to fit were to make it a true dual set-up. would i just have to replace the stock y-pipe to fit onto the headers? But then if i did that would i have to replace any pipes after that?

Re: Longtube Headers Install

Does your current exhaust look like this .. http://shbox.com/1/exhaust_system.jpg . If so the Pacesetter Y pipe will end about where the "dot" is in the shbox . com watermark is on that picture in the drive shaft tunnel. see PIC below. There you have to fabricate some sort of connection. Most people adding LT have a 3' cat back to keep 3" all the way back. If you are looking for a Y to match the headers to the stock exaust pipe at the rear of the cat, that will be a challenge since the headers end pretty far back and that stock collar connection at the back of the cat is to a 2 3/4 exhaust pipe not 3". You did not give the size of your setup..

End of Y Pacesetter w/3" adapter to Cat Back

End of Headers to Y- Pipe

Re: Longtube Headers Install

No. Stock single intermediate pipe is 2.75". You need to replace that single pipe with a 3" single pipe.

Re: Longtube Headers Install

Hard to tell what you are trying to connect it to, when you list "Fake Dual Flowmasters". I have no idea what the means.

Even a stock engine, with stock manifold will see a major (10-15) HP improvement with a full 3" catback exhaust..... the intermediate pipe and the muffler. It's one of the first changes most people make.

Re: Longtube Headers Install

Over on SummitRacing there is a few Pacesetter ORY does it matter which one to get? Also i want to put on JEGS cutouts before the y-pipe if possible. What would be a good muffler that is 3'' in/out that will keep it loud?
