Re: Cutouts?

On a stock exhaust, you'd gain about 10whp, similar to that of a cat-back system.

Re: Cutouts?

so bout 10 whp gain when opened. nice fairly cheap hp. another question. buddy of mine told me a TB does nothing for your car i.e. adds no hp, unless you have over 500 whp is that true? and if not bout how much gain would i see from it

Re: Cutouts?

You start seeing more significant gains when you approach the 390+whp mark, but on a bolt-on setup the HP/$ is very slim.

Of course if you already have a pretty well flowing cat-back, it won't add much or anything.

I'd say false, one of the things you have to keep in mind though is that even though you might be getting more air through the throttle body if you don't port the intake you might be choking the intake at that point.

Here's a dyno test of a STOCK throttle body with a airfoil. Most aftermarket throttle body's come with a airfoil. Not a very scientific test, but still. I personally have a 52MM TB on my bolt-on LT1. I can't say that I'd go out and buy one, mine happened to be on the car when I bought it. I plan on stepping up to a 58MM TB once I do a H/C swap on my car.

Don't hesitate to use the search button, a lot of these questions have been asked many times so you'll find your answers a little faster that way.
