1995 Camaro Z28

Just bought my 95 z28 and had the heads rebuilt. The guy who I bought it from had the car sit for a long time. I didn't pass smog and I think it might be the catalytic converter or fuel injectors. ALSO it smells a lot like exhaust fumes and wastes a lot of gas.. What could it be ?? Any help is appreciated .. I love this car and would like it to run like a Champ..6 speed , T-tops V8.. Love it HELP

In PA you could get classic tags and bypass the emissions test. Check with your states DMV and see if there are any exceptions, otherwise you are looking at replacing the cats.

What were the actual results of the smopg test for HC, CO and NOx - include your results and the passing limits?

How many miles/gallon are you getting, and under what driving conditions - city, highway, combined?

Have you verified that is actually has a working catalytic converter - i.e. the guts haven't been hollowed out?

Best approach would be to scan the PCM. You can accomplish that with the free software download in the "sticky" at the top of the "Computer Diagnostics and Tuning" forum. There is also info on cheap cables to connect a PC or laptop. You run a data log, we can look at it for you.

Just put a new catalytic converter but it still waste gas than normal. 2 gallons equal 18 miles.. by the way its 6 speed manual. Also the clutch is going out. Could that be one of the reasons?

Answer the first question:

"What were the actual results of the smopg test for HC, CO and NOx - include your results and the passing limits?"

If the clutch is slipping excessively, you could be wasting fuel. But if it's slipping that bad, you shouldn't be driving it.
