History On May 27, 1998 I woke up and knew I had to get rid of my 1986 white Trans Am. The engine smoked on occasion, the paint was chipping off, and it was way too underpowered (165bhp). I had driven it for 12 years, and that was enough. Besides, I had turned 50 a few months earlier and the midlife crisis was in full progress. I drove to the closest Pontiac dealership, saw the red car I wanted and then went on a search for a suitable salesperson. I found this kid named Brian who looked to be about 18 and asked him if he wanted to sell a car today. He said it would be his first ever, so sure, he was ready. They had two of these identical red ones. We got in the first one (on the lot) and I noticed the SES lamp was on; I immediately got out. "No way..." I said, "Can you move the one off the showroom floor?". "Absolutely" said Brian. Next thing I knew there were a dozen guys orchestrating this project of getting my potentially new car off the floor and outside. Paid with a check for the full amount and drove it away. But not before selling the old 86 to a mechanic in their shop. He wanted it for his son going to local college so he would feel "cool". While I was waiting I overheard some salespeople talking about how "kid Brian" had finally sold his first car and how happy he was about it. Made me feel good, not that I wasn't already.
