tranny compatability

Are all 4l60e's the same except the tail housing? Would tanny out of a v6 camaro work for v8? Or 4l60e out of a two wheel drive truck or van work on camaro? Any help would be great thanxs

Not even all the 4th Gen LT1 V8 4L60E's are the same - 94 has a switched TCC lockup, 95-97 is pulse width modulated lockup. What year car do you have?

Re: tranny compatability

The ONLY trans that will work in a '94 is a '94 or a '93 out of a V-8 truck. '93 TRUCK and '94 were the only 2 years that were non PWM lock up.

A van trans will work, but you will have to change the tail housing. I understand that getting a junkyard trans may save money initially, but people don't usually have good results with junkyard 4L60Es. It's not like back in the old days when everything was using a TH 350. Have you checked prices on rebuilds? Some places offer rebuilds for close to what you'll spend at a yard.
