94 Z28, I just replaced the starter. When I bought the car guy said the motor was locked up. Nose cone on the starter was broke off. Replaced the starter and put one medium shim to avoid the starter breaking again. Problem solved. Ex tried to steal the car and 12 days later I get it back and when I start it, first doesn't want too even try, hit the key again and loud grinding noises, again and again it finally turns over and starts. I'm thinking she turned it over and over with it running to ruin the starter ($212) and not the flexplate is probably done for as well. No jack to get under and look at it yet. Could it be from the shim?
