Skip Shift

Re: Skip Shift
it was allways my knowledge that the skip eliminator took care of that also.. could be wrong, but i think i read it on the board somewhere.. if not, could remove the bulb or try to ignore it..lol

Re: Skip Shift
i think it gets rid of the light too? i had it programmed out and the light never came on. basically all you doing is bypassing it so the light cant come on because the computer sees its not there. could have only spent 1.50 and got a resistor instead of buying an slp or whatever brand for a lot more.

Re: Skip Shift
The skip shift eliminator does NOT get rid of the "skip shift" light on the dash. It will prevent the SES light from coming on, but does not affect the "skip shift" light. My car has had a TH400 in it for 4 years, and the "skip shift" light still comes on.
"Programming it out" is a whole different story - you just change the parameters that invoke the skip shift feature, so that the operating conditions never meet those parameteres. Hence, no skip shift invoked, so no light comes on.
There is a way to disconnect the wire for the light at the PCM harness. I believe Brent Franker has the procedure on his website.

But yea, if you really want to save the extra money, send the unit back, and use a resistor for now. Then, eventually down the road when you need a tune, just program it out; then you can go back under and remove w/e tape you have holding it together...

Re: Skip Shift
yea i had mine programmed out so i just thought maybe it would do the same when you through the resistor in there.
when i bought it was like 1.50 including tax and it came with 6 more resistor of the same value.

Re: Skip Shift
Yep, the easiest way to get rid of the Skip Shift is to send back that part and get your $30 back! Next you can follow these directions for FREE and get rid of the skip shift AND light. Third, learn from your mistake and ask the board FIRST what to do then based on the responses, place an order as necessary
