Removing trans on a 97 3.8 with a 5 speed ??????
It appears either my flywheel is loose or my crankshaft is broken because I can move the fly wheel about a 1/4 of a inch front to rear through the bellhousing inspection holes.
My question are these.
How do you remove the center console to access the shifter bolts
How do you remove the 2 piece drive shaft
I have never dealt with this kind of throwout bearing, so how is it disconnected
If it is indeed loose flywheel what is the proper torque for it's bolts and the pressure plate bolts
Is this flywheel/clutch assembly like a LT1/T56
I have done 5 speeds on 3rd gen camaro but never a 4th gen. So any helpful advice is appreciated.

I pulled the center console on my 2001 3.8L to do the first stage of my clutch job. Fairly simple - some screws in storage box at back of console, one under ashtray, a couple up under dash. Have to pull parking brake back as fully as possible to lift console to clear it, of course have to unscrew ball from shifter. Lift console from rear end, lever it up and then back and out.

My 2001 3.8L flywheel bolts were supposed to be thrown away and new bolts used, I think there were 8 of them, they were torque to a torque spec then torque further to a specified angle.
