Preload on gears..

What are you guys setting the preload to for your pinion and carrier bearings? I got the solid pinion spacer that came with some shims, im assuming those shims are used to set the preload for the pinion?

TIA
Craig

Well I looked at my service manual and it says to insert a .004" shim on each side to set the carrier preload. I went threw my shims and there isnt any shims smaller then .010". I have the Ratech Complete Gear Install Kit.. am I missing something here?? Should I just mic what I take out and put that same amount back in??
