Need some quick clarification

The 700r4 tranny is 27 spline correct? As opposed to the 4l60e which is 30 right?

I'm going to guess you're counting the wrong splines. You want to count the splines on the input shaft. Not the stator. The input shaft rotates.

Re: Need some quick clarification

Alright well another question is, a shop has a 4l60e from a 94 suburban that has been gone through and rebuilt. I can have it for a decent price, but i noticed a difference. I have a large "K" on my bellhousing. From my understanding this is the k case type which is cast to be stronger. The other isnt and has a different setup to mount the cover for the TC and flexplate. Would there be clearance issues with this tranny?

Re: Need some quick clarification

The K case theory is a myth. There's nothing stronger about the case. It simply identifies the different converter cover set up. It's possible to cut the "ears" off the other style case to give you clearance.

Re: Need some quick clarification

I never knew the K case wasn't real. Thnks for the info, and how would you go about cutting the "ears" off? Would it be safer to just grind them down or take a torch straight to it?

Re: Need some quick clarification

We use a pneumatic 90 degree grinder with a cut off wheel. I've seen people have pretty good success with just a hacksaw though.

A hacksaw? Haha i never thought of that. I guess you do what you gotta do with what you got. I'll most likely use a grinder thanks for the insight
