Bad transmission? if so...

its time to part out the car.

iv had this happen before. 1995 z28 automatic.
hits 2000 rpm's and screams to 7000 rpm's and then shifts.

could it be a sensor of some kind?

Sounds more like a slip or a flare. What does the fluid look like?

according to my mecanic the fluid wasnt that good.
he said it didnt smell right.
its def a slip...is the tranny a gonner?

If the fluid was nasty and you're having a slip, it sounds like it's time for a rebuild.

sounds about right...but i rebuilt it before..and iv had it long..im just going to part it out.
