Any diffrence between these 2 rear ends?

I have a rear end out of a a 1996 Z28, M6 to replace my rear end in my 97 SS Camaro. It has 3.73s already and is in great shape but are there any diffrences Im missing. The ABS is the same but internally is any diffrence? Im having a noise problem and I think its an axle wore or warpped so I thought about just using its axles to see if it fixed it. Are they the same?

You want to know if stock axles will fit the moser? I don't know maybe you could call Moser.

No, I didnt. I had to open up both rearends today to see that the SS has a diffrent unit inside compared to the Z28.The Zs doesnt look as stout but considering 10 bolt they both suck. Id like to know what the diffrences between the 2, will my 4.10s from the SS work with the Zs unit?

different units inside could be Auburn-cone clutch,Eaton-clutch pack,and Torsen-gear pack.If you're dealing with 2 OEM GM 7.625 10 bolts,carriers are interchangeable.Gear setup for 'lash' is always required.

Well Im guessing the SS is the Torsen-gear pack, its has the most gears and theres a big square holding the axles in place. The Z28s has a round pin and has like 4 yellow springs. Youll have to excuse me Im new to these cars.

I must of misunderstood your question. I thought you wanted to try and find out if the axles were interchangable. Your gears should work with either unit. If you swap them you will still have to check lash and mesh. Be careful around the abs reluctor (don't pry on it) it is fragile. You will need a dial indicator, torque wrench, and maybe a shim kit. Do a search for procedures. Many are afraid to attempt this. I don't know the extent of your experience but you will find many will try to help and you will learn a lot. Good luck.

Ok, I put the one from the Z under my SS today. My noises are gone so it was either an axle or posi unit. The new unit has 3.73s and I think Im leaving them in for now, its kinda nice on the interstate.
Now, what posi unit is used in the Z28? Id like to know what Im using now.
