95 4l60e

My girlfriend and I recently acquired a 1995 z28 lt1 4l60e T-Top. It was free and I'm currently trying to piece things back together. It was torn apart and left in her moms garage. It was apart for about 10 years we assume, 7 or 8 in her garage. It was an optispark problem. The previous owner took it apart to the distributor and had a new one already install. Motor runs great after putting stuff back together.

Well long story short the trans fluid was burnt badly and blackened. When its warm it will slip badly. We flushed the fluid It will not want to shift into gear easily either. I've been looking to either replace the trans or repair the issue. I'm looking used instead of rebuilt and since GM used so many different variations of the same transmission I'm lost on what will and wont work. I've found a 96 trans out of a TA with a shift kit in it. Will this bolt up and go no issues? I know I cant really go backwards because of the EPC I think. Thanks in advance for assistance.

Will bolt up, but won't work with your 95 PCM. A 95 4L60E can only be replaced with one from a 95. 94 is switched TC lock up. 95 is pulse width modulated lock up. 96 and up is PWM, but the entire shift strategy is different, with revised control components.
