94 Camaro Z28 6 speed swap (need help)
Hey guys I'm new to this site and recently I blew my tranny out. I took it to a transmission shop and he said Im missing second gear. I dont know what to do, i really want to swap from my A4 to a M6 but money is issue for me being cause im in high school still. I need some info on what to do or any advise on getting cheap parts or how much this will cost me? or a parts list for a t56 swap and prices? Or if i should just stick with a A4? Please help.

Re: 94 Camaro Z28 6 speed swap (need help)
The cost of the M6 swap depends on the cost of your swap parts. I would say $2000 is the minimum and it will probably be more. If you have a 2.73 rear end you will need to change it. There was a M6 used on some 93s that would work with the 2.73, but it would be hard to find and you may have problems with the speed sensor. Except for cutting a hole for the shifter and some wiring the swap is just replacing auto parts with manual parts. Your PCM will need to be flashed with a M6 tune.
I've done the swap and ,unless you really want a M6, I think you should have your auto rebuilt. It will be a lot less work and probably cost a lot less. You also won't be taking a chance on a lot of used parts.

This link will give you an idea of what is involved in the swap.

I don't know I've done a few of these swaps and the first time its a pain because your learning but its pretty easy. 2k seems steep. I think you can get it done less than that. Heck I scored a GTO T56 for my 73 Firebird for 450 on Craigslist. yes deal of the century but I've seen the setups minus hydraulics for less than a grand.
If you are mechanically inclined I say do it, the auto is a PITA you really have to find a good builder, if not its a roll of the dice and your spending another 1100-2000 in a year.
I wrote up a piece on LS1tech that goes over what I learned years ago. I'll try and find it.
