9 inch owners with stock driveshaft PLEASE HELP!
Here the deal, I'm getting ready to install my moser 9 inch this weekend and wanted to use the stock drive shaft.
I've done a bunch of searching and come across a few guys who have but I need some part #s and some one to confirm what I need. I've heard that a U joint from an old Faraline will work because its longer.
I do plan to have one made over the winter, but right now I just want to use the stocker if it doesn't cost too much to convert the drive shaft.
If any one could help me out it would be greatly appreaciated

i have a ford 9" with the stock drive shaft and stock u-joint, if you look you can find that ford makes a 9" yoke that uses the same size u-joint as the factory gm

I've already got the billet yoke that came with the moser rear, I really didn't want to change the yoke on the rear. Was the different GM yoke longer to make up for the need of a longer drive shaft.
I'd like to use my stock driveshaft without modifying the length, just the rear u-joint if at all possible.

yup ford makes a 9" yoke that is longer and uses the same large u-joint as chevy it works perfect with the stock drive shaft, i dont know what ford vehicles they came on stock, i have an extra one here that i might part with for the right price,, i found it at a swap meet and bought it for an extra for my car

Re: 9 inch owners with stock driveshaft PLEASE HELP!
I havn't started the install yet, I'm just trying to get a game plan.
So, If I get a different yoke for the rear, Is there any problems with removing the yoke and distrubing the gear set? I just don't want to damage or mess with the pinion gear depth.
Sorry for all the questions...

nope, just replace the yoke, just dont over tighten it and you would be fine,
on my car if i used the small short ford yoke and the stock driveshaft i came up a bit short, not enough of the yoke in the trans
so i found the large long ford yoke's and it worked out perfect with the stock u-joint and drive shaft length

my moser has the 1350 yoke. I bought a Precision 447 u-joint from summit racing to put in my stock driveshaft until the Denny's Nitrous ready one gets here. It fit perfectly.

Removing the yoke may or may not affect your pinion preload. My 3rd member was built with a solid spacer so I'm able to remove the yoke. Some 3rd members use a crush sleeve to set the pinion preload; removing the yoke would affect the preload. You need to check with the builder of your 3rd member.
I had to go with a shorter driveshaft with my Moser 9"; I have a M6 though.

So your using your stock driveshaft with that u-joint. There was no issues with the length of the driveshaft?
Thanks for all the help guys!

need a 1310-1350 U joint! best bet is to goto a Driveshaft shop.. Autozone is really useless when it come's to this stuff.. Napa's tend to be pretty good w/ their knowledge so you can try them as well.. i have a stock driveshaft as a spare in case i snap any more.. From what i hear its a 3rd Gen Ujoint.. But i can't confirm!.. bring your yoke w/ ya if you can..
