4l60e limo mode

OK I have a 95 z28 a4.. Had computer tuned after tune I went for a test drive and upon nailing the throttle lost 1 and 4 skipped to 3rd and manual 2nd . after the car is off for a while I regain all gears .. Randomly losing 1 and 4.. I took the car to have codes scanned and nothing comes up.. I do not have a larger than stock stall and they didn't change anything in the tune as shift points are concerned.. Any ideas what could be causing this.???. I already changed both 1-2 and 3-4 shift solenoids...

Did they use the correct OBD-1 scanner?

3rd gear starts and manual 2nd only does indicate limp mode. Are you having it scanned while it's acting up? How many miles on the trans.? What condition is the fluid in?

Yes I had it scanned twice.. Once after it had happend turned the car off read nothing.. Took the service guy at the Chevy dealership for a ride made it lose 1and 4 didn't turn off the car still read nothing... I can reset the computer.. Turn lights on unplug battery wait 10 min reconnect.. All works fine till either I run 1st all the way out to redline or the tires spin

Might want to try the free download of 94/95 LT1 scanning/data logging software, link available in a sticky thread at the top of the "Computer Diagnostics.... " forum.

Re: 4l60e limo mode

" 5. Trans shifts into gear harshly, 3rd gear starts, manual 2nd available but no 1st, no 4th, and no TCC lockup: No power to transmission, or trans is in limp-home mode. Check wiring, and make sure transmission electrical connector is plugged in. Easy fix."

I've tried getting this read by several ppl.. I need to get this fixed.. No codes are being thrown.. I can unplug the PCM fuse and replace and it works fine... I can drive normal as long as I start off in 1st and don't allow it to go over 2k rpm... Has anyone had this issue before? All this happened after the car was tuned but he claimed nothing shift related was changed

Sounds very similar to the problem I had with my 94. I ended up replacing the PCM and it was fine. I later learned this is a common problem on 94s (bad PCM).

OK got a question.. This may be far out but I saw a post that might support this on a fb page... I have a poly trans mount but the engine mounts r stock.. Is it possible the torque of a standing start is causing too much flex in the transmission causing limp mode.. If PCM was bad I should be having other probls arose shouldn't I?

That mount arrangement is fine and no, it won't cause limp mode.

Re: 4l60e limo mode

Is there anything else I can try to fix this issue? I've tried to get the PCM read for codes and no one seems to be able to get anything from it.. I would really like to get this fixed

Is the vehicle modified in any way? Stock torque converter? How many miles on the transmission? What condition is the fluid in? Are you having it scanned while it's acting up?

Scanning for codes in a 94/95 does not get any easier than this:

Re: 4l60e limo mode

Yes the vehicle is modified.. PCM was tuned.. Cold air intake.. New motor 96 caprice shaved heads.. 11:1 compression.. Transmission has 116000 miles.. Fluid so new.. Tried scanning it before after and when its acting up.. I can pull the fuse resets PCM works fine till I take off any more than light throttle but I can floor it once it's shifted out of first to make it drop back to first and it's fine doesnt cause problems...

I attempted to scan using the free scan program but it wouldn't read it connected to the com port

Does it have a high stall converter in it?
