What did it take to get your 4Th gen into the 10'S in the 1/4 mile

For me I just added a 140rwhp shot to my 5 yr old LE heads and small cam. I do have all the bolt ons, Yank SS3600 and 3.73 gears as you can see in my sig.
Next yr I hope to be at least 4-5 tenths quicker NA. We'll see how that works out though.

It depends if youre talking about on motor or with a poweradder. It's not too hard to get a mild heads/cam Lt1 car into the 10's with a 150shot of n2o but straight engine takes quite abit more money, suspension, correct gearing, weight removal etc... I have gone 10's about 6yrs. back with a stock shortblock, LE cam, LE1 heads, longtubes with cutout, 2800vigilante, 4l60e with transgo, stock 10bolt with M6 3.42's, stock suspension except for an airbag and no front swaybar, 3600lbs and a 150shot n2o(10.86@125mph). Now I have full suspension, rollbar, 12bolt with 4.10's, 3450lbs, forged built by me 383, LE3 heads, LE4 SR cam, TH350w T-brake (4K vigilante converter) and now run 10.80's@127.8mph on motor but the car will run alot quicker once I get it to hookup better, more tuning and get about 20-30 passes on it. I also ran 9.80's with my old forged 355" LT1 on a 200shot so there are alot of ways to get there but it all depends on what you are willing to spend and how much streetability you want out of the car. Later Clint

I went in the 10.9's with a stock LT1 with a cc306 cam and a dynotune nitrous kit. Bolt ons were headers, 3600 vig stall, LS1 lid, 4.10 gears and 28" slicks.

I would say that was a low budget build.

The 355 was sporting stock heads right, cause you dipped into the 9's with the ported trickflows.

Yes sir. Still using the CC306, almost forgot it's been awhile. I am in the process of getting the car ready for it's first n2o passes real soon. Just bought a Mallory 685 to retard the timing and in the process of installing my new fuel system for the n2o. The only thins that I need to buy is a 1-2gallon fuel cell, new slicks or drag radials and some rearshocks. I have the fuel pump, lines and electrical for my stand alone but haven't decided on buying or building my own n2o fuel tank. I am leaning towards going back to drag radials b/c we are having some street car races at our local track in a few months. You have to meet up at local spot, drive in the track, run a couple time trials, then run the cars. We haven't done it yet but we are in the process of getting set up to run it. Later Clint

I droped a few pounds, bolted in a 350 tubo trans, a 3.73 w/9" slicks, sprayed a 180 shot, and gave it a tune up...10.89. Still had manifolds and stock Y-pipe.

A lot of $$$, mostly because the car is very heavy and I didn't want to remove anything. But I got to the nines with a 4,000lb car. Something I will nefer attempt again.

Centrifugal SC plus a small nitrous shot.

nefer say nefer

thanks for the replies. keep em coming

I'm trying to get there, but not set on doing it with this car, at least for now

it can wait till my bbc 95 is running

the story is a (friend) bought a 99+ ls ss car and "it has 489 rwhp and runs 10s" it has 9" and all spohn suspension Hoosiers, lots of money in it. arrogant bastard. show quality car, just beauty-full lowered

his first pass was 13s
that day he did get an 11.3 after lots of 12s

spinning, I looked under the car and the pinion is pointing up like+6* or better, no lower control arm relocation brackets, the lower control arms were pointing toward the ground not close to level

did I mention ("it has 489 rwhp and runs 10s") and has a hole in the oil pan with part of a rod hanging out
