I need some input from people that run this converter.Last fall i ran my best 60 ft.@1.81 & others were 1.85,1.89.This was 2.2 tenths better than b/f(2.03).Most literature inc. Precision Industries says 60 ft. should improve 2 tenths(it did that)& the quarter mile should be 4-5 tenths! My problem is i only went from 13.45 - 13.24.I was hoping for 13.1/or 13.0.The car really launches hard as evidenced by the great 60 ft.Why doesn,t the 1/4 mi. show that same improvement?Any insight would be helpful as i want the elusive 12 sec. timeslip.

For anyone to give any type of guess we would need to see the before converter and after converter timeslip numbers, all of them. 60', 330', 1/8 et/mph, 1000', and 1/4 et/mph.

That will be difficult to give you 330/1/8,1000 as our timers @ local 1/4 track are not set up for that info.I made 2 passes @ Minot/N.D last Sept(09) which was 8.59@81 w/ 1.95 60ft.The 330 was 5.55.A few yrs. ago my best there was 8.90@79.9 w/5.81 330 w/ a 2.08 60 ft.At that time though i didn,t have the headers(only that Borla Y pipe,stk. converter& maf+ translator)The 6-7 passes @ 1/4 local track were average speed was 101.15 w/ the best 101.52 & lowest was 100.67.The previous yr. saw average of 101.78 & best being that 102.95.

yes your 60' is better, but some converters don't work well down track.

usually you gain down track, bad air and head winds or many things can affect down track times, what gear were you in ? did you run it out the back?

break it down like AL said, 60', 330', 660' 1000' and 1/4. I understand you cant now, but its easier to tell if the car is laying down on top with this info

do you have any more speeds with times? @the 1/4 track

one of my favorites

what kind of tuning do you have? im not familiar with scanmaster

With the mods in my sig except for the built tranny, 2800 Vig stall, 12 bolt, and ewp this was my best run.

3560lb race weight

R/T..... .144
60'...... 2.062
330..... 5.755
1/8...... 8.767
MPH..... 81.65

With everything in my sig including the tranny, stall, rearend, and ewp this was my best run

263hp and 268ft/lbs
about 3800lb race weight

60'.......1.796
1/8.......8.419
MPH......81.92

I always run the car in 3rd, not o.d .Yes most definitely the car should be better on the mph. endOther times were as follows:13.31@101.05,13.30@100.67,13.24@100.77.I used a maf+ translator (lt1 version) yrs. ago but had the stk. tune when i ran last Sep.The scanmaster is used to monitor parameters while driving & chk. data after a run.

Hi,

I haven't posted in eons. When I had my full bolt-on 97 Z A4 (JBA shorty's, SLP 2OTL, Moroso CAI and 3:73') I could only pull 1.8 and 1.9 60ft's with great track prep at NE Dragway with the Vig. 2800. When the 3200 was put in I was was able to pull consisent low 1.7's and a few 1.6's, all with stock suspension. The low end on this car was great but was louzy on the high end.

(Oh, excellent burnouts w/ BFGoodrich Drag radials at ~18 psi, if I recall correctly)

What were your times w/ the 2800 vig?Did you run the 13.01 w/ the 3200 vig?Like i,ve pointed out i,m really happy w/ the 60 ft. it,s just the mph trap speed that, s lacking.

Update on 02 readings

The 02 reading was 789 ("0")kr. @ the 1/8 mi. track. The readings @ 1/4 mi. track were 925(5.0kr)w 101.52;808(5.0 kr)w/100.7; 917("0"kr) w/100.67.The puzzling thing is the mph. is better w/ 5.0 kr.! As my future mods are 52 mm t.b& off-road pipe this might give me the improvements i,m looking for. Also i think a dyno-jet will also show some#,s to see where the problem is.Any opinions are most welcome.Thanks.

Canuck,

13.3's to 13.5's with the 2800 stall depending on track prep and weather. The 3200 stall gave me 13.0 to 13.2's depending on prep and weather. Got a few 13.0X's but no 12.9x. I usually raced in the summer. A 12 sec et was there but never got the great weather. I also ran the car with stock programming. I had the Hypertech Power programmer but only used that for shift points (forgot those setings). I had the JbA shorty's so I'm sure that helm me back on the upper end a bit.

Flashing the converter/launching from idle gave me my best 60 fts. Pre-loading to a given rpm made my 60 fts worse.

Updates

Steve, thanks for that info.My best 60ft. was launching around 1200 rpm.I,ve found a couple things that might explain why top was lacking. The Msd coil i did as part of a tuneup was defective& eventually died causing a no-start cond.& the yellow wire for the maf plug was broken off&then i also noticed a code 48& very high maf readings@ idle on my scanmaster(461gps!)I might have a bad maf also. Also there is a blk. collar that goes between the K&N tube& the maf housing that has gotten so hard it won,t seal properly causing poor drivability. This collar will need replacing. These problems have to be causing car to run like s....t b/c my 99GTP though slower exhibits great driveability

another update

I,ve fixed that seal from K&N tube to maf.Garage had it positioned too high. The maf has possibly died,it keeps throwing the code.I will chk. voltage to the maf but i just picked up a spare just to be safe. The car was driven yesterday& showed the usual 5.0 kr(good indication of dying maf) & no drivability issues& i haven,t installed that off -road pipe yet so there are some bugs to work out yet!
