Sprayed the nitrous finally! Now new issues

60': 1.736
1/8: 7.512
MPH: 94.04
1/4: 11.564
MPH: 121.05

So it went ok, car ran great. Without the 100 shot it runs 12.1s@115 consistently so I guess I expected a little more out of the 100 shot. I guess I just need to actually hook one of these days. I did not mess with the airbag in the right rear, I bet I could have squeezed a better launch out of it. I really need help answering question 2 below!

Basically now I have 2 problems:
1- A slight oil leak is growing that I keep trying to find but I am afraid it may need to be reckoned with. When the car is hot like really hot it causes like 2-3 drips after sitting for a while. I tightened the oil pan but this did nothing. I am afraid that the stock pan needs to go due to not sealing now with the increased crank case pressure. Maybe a breather would help?

2- I am now going through the traps at roughly 6200-6300 rpms when I usually shift right around 6000-6100rpms. I could not get up the courage on any of my runs to switch into 5th and I dont think that would be a good idea. What do you guys think? The way I see it, I could go to a smaller tire, switch into 5th, spray a 150 shot and go into 5th or change the gears. I have liked the 4.10s for a long time (like 7 years now) but now that my trap is 120s something needs to change. I spray 3000-6000, max HP is at roughly 5500 rpms. Every time I try and shift earlier though my times are slower.

Please help me on the shifting issue!!

I have the 26.5's and the 27s wont fit for some reason under my wheel well. Any way to make it fit?

What is your tire/wheel combo?

Sounds fine to me. Less gear or taller tire will make it accelerate slower. Over reving it isn't hurting your ET at all. You have max effort gearing and a few more mph/rpm won't hurt it. That's a solid rotting assembly that is probably safe to 8000 rpm.

Working on more hook is what you need. Launch rpm, maybe a 2 step rev limiter, air hag, tq ARM changes.

If you have traction problems, you should delay the nitrous a few tenths of a second.

If its bogging, you should leave off a 2 step with the nitrous flowing before the clutch even drops.

Goodluck, you 6 speed guys are hard on parts!

AutoRoc,
I just need more reps with it and to start using my 2step. I have a 2 step setup I just never use it. The best launch of the night was a bog... so I need to get the launch dialed in for sure. I have hit a 1.68 before but a 1.45 would really give me some good times. Since I have the moser 12bolt I need to get a weld in LCA relocation brackets really to improve it and mess with the tire pressure/air bag pressure until it actually hooks.

I have the Hoosier 26.5x15x11.5s on some IROC Z 15x9s? and that is probably why it wont hook. Some good 15x11.5 rims with the 11.5 tire would help a lot. I think that and some skinnies are next... I just dont want to have a thinner tire in the back than in the front (stock 17x275s).

Rev it higher if you can and have forged internals or go to a bigger tire.

I run a 28x10.5.15 ET Drag and have much better success with a Drag tire than ET Street. I also run 4:10 gears.

To run that tire you will have to cut your bumper by the wheel well opening and move it back to allow for more room. I did that and regraphed the piece back onto the bumper and repainted the bumper so it looks stock and you can't tell a thing. Might have to pound the front inner part of the wheel well too.

15x10" wheel, 7.5" backspace. I ran a Hoosier QTP 28x11.5-15 and only adjustment needed was to move the axle assembly back about 1/4" with adjustable LCA's. The inner fenders had already been hammered for 315's. Currently running 28x10.5-15W ET Drags and the only change was to take about an inch off the leading edge of the bumper cover.

Check the drag tire FAQ on the "Wheel & Tire" forum.

As far as shifting, try it. I run a TH400 with a Gear Vendor O/D. With a 7,000RPM redline, the 28.1" slick and 4.11 gears it needs to shift into O/D at about 136MPH. The GV does shift instantaneously though.
