Shakedown on my 2010 SS
PREFACE: I've been casually drag racing for years, and I still can't launch a manual trans car to save my ****ing life. I try, but I just can't.
I took my new camaro to the track to get some baseline times. I purposely kept it completely showroom stock just to see what it could do. The tires were at 34psi all around, the paper air filter was in place, and I even had my wifes purse and a couple jackets in the trunk.
first pass
2.2 60'
8.93 1/8
82.87mph
13.56 1/4
106.65mph
I had the competitive mode launch control on. It really bogged the motor, but the two step feature during staging was neat.
second pass the clutch did some really wierd **** where the pedal didn't come all the way up on the launch, so I aborted the run to a 15.sumthin' at 88mph. I had the comp mode launch control off, and I completely blew away the tires, and probably overheated the clutch.
3rd pass
2.25 60'
8.89 1/8
78.25mph
13.71 1/4
103.98mph
traction control comp mode was on again, but I bogged the motor less, chirped the hell out of 2nd, and missed 3rd.
final pass
2.44 60ft
9.30 1/8
81.86mph
13.99 1/4
106.43mph
comp mode was on, and I really slipped the clutch gently this time, which gave me a little wheelhop. It felt like an awsome strong launch, and I was shocked to see such a ****ty short time and ET. A 2004 GT stang tree'd the **** out of me, and I straight up ran his *** down and won this race. It was awsome. The crowd cheered.
It was 70* outside, with a DA close to sea level. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the car's power. 106mph traps with a paper air filter are impressive to me. As usual, I can't drive worth a damn, and I can't launch it. I think the comp mode would be great for bracket racing. Launching the car without it might get better times with a good driver, but with me, the car had too much power and I would just blow away the tires

Practice, practice, practice. Others have gotten pretty fast times from the new SS. Just keep trying. Track and weather conditions play a huge role in ets but, the biggest gains ultimately will be found between the seat and pedals.
I'm sure it's not easy launching a heavy car with that much power on street tires...especially the first few times trying.
Good luck to ya.

If I keep trying, I might be one of the faster stone stock cars. I'm not bolt any mods onto my car until I can get a few 2.0 6-' times under my belt, then I'll bolt on a CAI or something.

Ok, that was what I have seen out of them too. Someone at work bought a new SS and folks at work are already telling me I'm going to get smoked by it. My reply is....I dont know, my truck is pretty fast
I'd like to see the best you can get stock, but I'm sure mild mods would make it fly.

Keep practicing and you`ll do better. Also the LS engines seem to get quicker
when they get some miles on them. The clutch problem you had is also common
on the Z06 corvettes.Check out the corvette forums and do a search for a guy
named ranger. He talks about frequently changing your fluid in your hydraulic
clutch.

I'm not sure what people are getting for 60's on the 5th Gen, but there's a lot of improvement to be had there. I wonder how much of this is to blame by the 20" wheels.
With some practice, it's got low 13's in it for sure.
