School me on skinnies

School me on skinnies
What kind of et reduction could I expect? Car runs mid 12's @ 109 right now with a so so 60ft.time. If I have some skinnies up front and et streets on the back is it ok to drive through the the water box instead of driving around and backing in? Thanks for any help you might have for me.

It's been 7 years since I had an F-Body w/ a full front tire. Not sure on making the car faster, but you'll lose anywhere from 10-20 per wheel by going to a 4" wheel. Weight loss will also be affected by the tire you run (Sportsman Pro 8-ply is heavier than a metric radial which is heavier than an ET Front).
Unless I'm running a full boot, I drive around the water.

So is it ok to drive through the water box with skinnies and et streets, or is it considered bad manners? And excuse my lack of knowledge, but what the heck is a full boot?

Full boot = slicks

Re: School me on skinnies
With 45 pounds in my skinnies I drive right through the water box with no ill effects for myself or the people behind me. The biggest savings is weight reduction on the front end which also helps with weight transfer to the back upon launch. I cannot quantify the results of simply adding skinnies to your matrix but reducing weight, making the water box simple, and helping weight transfer to the rear certainly will not hurt. General rule of thumb in a street type vehicle if for every 100 pounds lost you can expect about a tenth in ET improvement.
