scary track night...

Before the track I was playing with my shifter and trying to get the shortest throws. On the way to the track it kept popping out of gear because I get the top gears up too much. So once I arrived i fixed it, tested it driving a bit then staged up. Little spin to clean the wheels off and got lots of wheelhop in the process (waiting for those relocation brackets to arrive). Pull up the the line, yellow yellow yellow (start going off clutch) yellow (CLACK) green (revs like crazy). I jumped a little when I got off the clutch the there was the clack then nothing, so I throw it in second and coast down the track, go the throw it in third and nothing. I thought I blew the tranny. Once I pull back in the lanes I look at my shifter and the thing is all the way down for the adjustment. No wonder 1st came out, I'm guessing the wheelhop made it move. So I got some tools from Shane and tightened em up and go to run again.

This time I don't spin the wheels so I don't get wheel hop so I hope the shifter bolts don't move. yellow, yellow, yellow (start letting of clutch), yellow, green (spinnnn). Not only did I spin but I almost **** myself because my car went sideways. I recovered with countersteer and amidst the panicing I shifted into 2nd too early (4krpm) and bogged the crap out of second. The rest of the run went fine, I'm very happy with how strong the motor pulls. Here's the slip:

R/T... .111 --new best
60'... 2.666 --ewww
330'... 6.880
1/8... 10.228
mph... 73.51
1000'... 13.110
1/4... 15.517
mph... 94.77 -- new best

2 big scares on the night. Thought I broke my tranny then I got sideways for the first time on the track. Called it a night and watched for a bit afterwards.

Re: scary track night...

It sounded like a rough night, but at least both you and your car are around to tell the tale.

Re: scary track night...
