Post New best time

I went out to Firebird tonight. I borrowed my buddy's drag radials. The drag radials are 245/50/16 Nittos and they are about 3 years old...needless to say they have just about seen their last day heh. Trying various launching techniques, tire pressure etc. the best 60' I could get was a 2.042. My best run is as follows:

60' ... 2.042
330 ... 5.652
1/8 ... 8.594
MPH ... 84.18
1000 ... 11.093
1/4 ... 13.207
MPH ... 107.19

The weather was pretty good tonight. Probably ~ 80* on most of my runs. I was hoping for a low 1.9 60' time and a 12-second pass...but it just wasn't happening on these tires. They were barely better than street tires. Better weather, tuning and better tires and I should be where I want to be.

You really need some tuning. You will not believe how much it will pick up. I would just buy an OBD1 computer and get Bryan at PCM forless to tune it for you. All of this would cost about $200. Or he also tunes OBD2 cars for $175.

Tuning is definitely the next thing I'm doing to my car...then some real tires.

Did you make sure to heat the HELL out of those Nitto Drags? They LOVE a lot of heat I was getting used to the 7 seconds of smoke before every pass. worked perfect!

Held it in first for ~ 6 seconds then shifted into second and held it in second for probably another 4-5 seconds. I cut a 2.076 60' on that run and ran a 13.28. Honestly, I think the tires are just that trashed. I'm not making that much power and I expected them to hold better. Slipping/dumping the clutch at 2500 rpm netted me my best 60'. I tried dumping the clutch at 2700 rpm and just spun like crazy.
